Meditation Retreats With Uma

Two Paths to the Same Practice

Sometimes you need to step away from everything to remember who you are.

I offer two distinct retreat experiences: one through deep stillness, one through movement and challenge. Both teach the same profound meditation technique. Both create lasting transformation.

Choose the path that calls to you.

Deep Stillness Retreats

Traditional contemplative immersion

4-5 days

Extended meditation practice, ancient wisdom teachings and sacred space for profound settling.

There's something that happens when you step away from daily life, when you're held in a beautiful space with nothing to do but turn inward. The first day, your mind races with everything you left behind. By day two, you begin to settle. Day three, something opens. By day four, you've touched a quality of stillness that seemed impossible at home.

For:

  • Those who need rest and deep introspection
  • Introverts who crave quiet
  • Anyone feeling burned out and needing restoration

Setting

Beautiful retreat centers chosen for their quiet beauty and comfortable accommodations

Investment (approx)

$2,800 - $3,500
(includes all instruction, accommodation, meals)

Inner & Outer Mountains Retreats

Adventure meditation experience

4-5 days

Combining daily challenging hikes in stunning national parks with meditation instruction, building inner and outer strength simultaneously.

Something profound happens when you challenge yourself physically while learning to work with your mind. The hike demands presence, one foot, one breath, one moment at a time. Just like meditation. Working with discomfort on the trail teaches you to work with discomfort in life. Mountains mirror your inner landscape.

I recently completed some very strenuous hikes in different US National Parks and felt something profound shift. There was an empowerment in pushing my body, in proving to myself what I was capable of, that opened pathways for the meditation to go deeper.

For:

  • Active people who process through movement
  • Adventurers who might resist pure sitting practice
  • Those seeking empowerment through challenge

Setting

Based near stunning national parks (California, Colorado, Utah, Upstate NY, Australia, New Zealand, Europe). Comfortable lodge accommodation.

Fitness Level

You should be comfortable with strenuous hiking (10-12 miles with elevation gain). Not an athlete, but reasonably fit.

Investment (approx)

$3,200 - $3,800
(includes all instruction, accommodation, meals, park access)

Frequently asked questions

Do I need meditation experience?

Not at all. I teach this technique as if you've never meditated before. Both complete beginners and experienced practitioners learn together.

Which retreat should I choose?

Trust what calls to you. If you need rest, choose Stillness. If you need movement and challenge, choose Adventure. If unsure, email me, I can help you discern.

What if I'm not fit enough for the adventure retreat?

You should be comfortable with strenuous hiking. When in doubt, start with the Stillness retreat or a 4-day local course.

Is it all silent?

Stillness retreats have periods of silence (mornings and afternoons) but not the entire retreat. There's teaching, questions and community sharing. Adventure retreats have less formal silence but natural quiet during hikes. Neither is rigid about silence.

What if I have physical limitations?

Stillness retreats are very adaptable: chairs, props, and modifications are available. Adventure retreats require fitness for hiking. Let me know your needs when registering.

Can I do both types eventually?

Absolutely. Many students find both paths valuable at different times. Each offers unique doorways to the practice.

What are the sleeping arrangements?

Private rooms and shared rooms (2 people) are available.

Can I bring a friend or partner?

Yes. Learning together deepens the experience, and you'll have a practice partner after.

Is this religious?

No. Rooted in ancient wisdom but not religious. People of all backgrounds participate.

Payment plans available?

Yes. Email hello@innerpeaceebooks.com to discuss.

What Retreatants Say

I came to Uma's stillness retreat carrying six months of unprocessed grief. By day three, something cracked open in me, not painfully, but like finally exhaling after holding my breath. The combination of Uma's teaching, the extended practice time, and the sacred space allowed me to access depths I couldn't reach in my daily life.

Rachel T.

As an athlete, I was skeptical of meditation retreats. But the adventure format was perfect for me: hiking all day, then sitting in the evening when my body was naturally tired. The physical challenge made the internal work easier somehow. Learning to work with discomfort on the trail translated directly to working with my emotions.

A Note From Uma

I offer two retreat paths because I've learned that transformation doesn't look the same for everyone.

Some people need to sit still until something settles. Others need to move until something breaks open. Some need rest. Others need challenge. Both are sacred. Both lead to the same place: that unshakeable inner peace beneath all the noise.

Choose the doorway that calls to you.
